Second week of January…

Posted on

A very good (late) evening to you, Write Edge readers! Whew, I wasn’t sure if I would get to post this evening, but here I am. It’s been a good day; just a busy one.

As I do every day, I spent quite a bit of time thinking about writing and my life’s passion to express myself with this craft. Sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes it takes a lot of courage. This week’s motivational quote speaks to both ideas:

“In order to achieve anything, you must be brave enough to fail.”—Kirk Douglas

It’s Monday, which means a new piece. This week, I elected to write a micro nonfiction piece, so I won’t share an excerpt. But it’s definitely a direct reflection of what’s on everyone’s minds these days. Check it out now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop.

On Wednesday, I’ll share a new book review with you. Come back to find out what I thought of the YA book You Have a Match by Emma Lord. You can find that review on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

Then, at the end of the week, I go back to Instagram. Check out old posts with my handle, @EktaRGarg. Come back for new ones on Friday!

I normally tell everyone here at the end to mask up, stay socially distant, and wash your hands. Today I’ll add, “Listen to one another — really.” Maybe, if we did more listening, we’d have less reason to be so wary.

Thinking of you, readers.

Hello, Write Edge readers. Like most of you, I was saddened by the attack on our Capitol this week. I hope this gives our entire nation pause and a moment to reflect on what we’re actually fighting for. What matters more: the strength of our democracy or proving a point?

I hope, after some time and distance from the event, that at least a few of those who participated will realize the futility and the absurdity of what they tried to do on Wednesday. Even if they don’t, I hope they realize that they took part in an action that will mark them forever. It will mark them out forever. We won’t forget this day.

On a lighter note, I wanted to let you all know that I shared my latest Instagram posts. Check out what I’m reading, a fun new book for kids, and more. Find them now and older posts with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.

Stay safe out there, readers. Wear a mask, stay socially distant, wash your hands, and please, please consider the far-reaching consequences of your actions.
