Welcome, everyone, to The Write Edge! Can you imagine, it’s already the last week of February! It feels like just last week we celebrated the start of the new year, and here we are getting ready to start its third month. I hope this year has started off positively for you, my loyal readers. It certainly has for me; this blog and your support and encouragement have played a major role in it. I hope we can continue this association and that I keep hearing from all of you about the content on The Write Edge.
Do I seem annoyingly persistent in trying to solicit your feedback? I know another group of people who definitely come across that way: telemarketers. But not all telemarketers are what they seem. In this week’s, “A Writer’s Heartbeats,” read about the contact made between a telemarketer and a college student. This story was inspired by a mysterious letter I received while I was studying at the University of South Carolina; when the letter landed in my campus mailbox, my mind began playing that favorite writer’s game, “What if…?” and this story is the result.
This game of “What if” is also an underlying theme in this week’s, “A Corner for Bollywood.” In the third of this three-part series looking at highly-anticipated movies that flopped, I examine Rituparno Ghosh’s “The Raincoat” starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Ajay Devgan. Ash’s character, “Neeru,” is caught in a situation where she presents things as she’d like them to be and not as they actually are. While the 2004 film may have received critical acclaim, it didn’t do well at the box office although I beg to differ this final verdict.
In conclusion, to those publishing companies and employers looking for the next writer/editor to join their team, please contact me. I have had extensive experience overseeing several publications simultaneously and continue to fulfill that capacity. For examples of my current writing, please feel free to contact me so that we can discuss what I can do for you.
Thanks for visiting The Write Edge; please take a few minutes to look around, make yourself comfortable, and enjoy the literary ride. I promise it’ll be an entertaining one!
